Dedicated to Phil
Along the Russell–Whakapara Road, an old Bedford bus rests beneath shifting light — weathered yet dignified, still holding the memory of motion. Its fading paint speaks in tones of time and endurance, a story of journeys once taken and the peace of stillness found.
The Road Home draws from that quiet moment of discovery — where decay becomes beauty, and the forgotten hums with life once more. The work is also a personal reflection, dedicated to the artist’s beloved companion, Phil the Maine Coon, whose gentle presence and spirit of curiosity continue to inspire.
Te Ara ki te Kāinga — the path home — reminds us that every ending carries the echo of return, and that love, like light, lingers.
