Pakaru Matapihi
Pakaru Matapihi captures a moment where beauty and decay meet. The scene, located on Okura Bay Road in Tōtara North, gazes across Whangaroa Harbour — a place where light and weather leave their stories upon every surface.
Through the fractured frame of a broken window, the artist invites the viewer to see beyond ruin into renewal. The peeling paint, softened timbers, and play of reflection reveal not just abandonment, but quiet endurance — the poetry of time etched in glass and shadow.
This work is both memory and mirror: a glimpse into what remains, and what still endures.
