Commissioned by Duncan McFarlane, founder and CEO of Indevin New Zealand. Duncan’s vision was an original piece that was personal and representational of the art of making beautiful wine. Lana made it personal by painting Duncan’s hand in each panel, capturing the process and the care taken to make the final product.
Lana named the piece ‘Gestalt View’ — ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’. In German, Gestalt describes the way a thing has been “placed” or “put together”; there is no exact equivalent in English.
